Machine capability
What a specific machine can and cannot make.
Technical definition
The set of products, sizes, materials, and tolerances a machine can produce, often expressed as a capability matrix.
Manufacturing example
Only two of five lines can run a particular laminate, constraining where those orders go.
Common misconception
Capability is not the same as availability; a capable machine may still be busy or down.
Why it matters operationally
Ignoring capability produces schedules that assign jobs to machines that physically cannot run them.
